PLEASE HELP!! AMERICAN HISTORY ?

Frederick Dougl was a very influential freed slave. he's basically saying, when the Russian slaves were freed the government gave them some land to get them on their feet and help them out. The American government, on the other hand, made slavery illegal but at first didn't do much to ensure equal rights or any way to support themselves. For many years after slavery was abolished, blacks were discriminated against and lynched and nothing was done about it by the government. They also had no land or way to support themselves.
